Ever wanted an experienced blogger to look at your blog, review it and give you some constructive criticism on how you can make it better?

That’s a common ask I see in Facebook blog support groups, newbies asking more experienced bloggers for feedback. Even experienced bloggers ask other experienced bloggers to take a look at a new piece of content or maybe a sales page or a landing page for a freebie.

It can be so beneficial for another experienced set of eyes to look at your blog or piece of content. Someone who’s far removed from you and your business and who knows what they’re doing.

They’ll be able to quickly spot things you haven’t and give you feedback from a reader’s perspective.

What if you could perform this task yourself with a list of things to check on your blog ever so often to make sure it’s in tip-top shape?

Let me share with you just what a blog audit is and why you need to perform one on your blog every year or better yet, every six months.

What is a blog audit?

A blog audit is a complete review of your blog and everything stemming from it.

This is a comprehensive check of your content, SEO, social sharing, email marketing, blog layout and design, monetization strategy and all the workflows you perform on your blog.

It takes a look at your blog today, what has happened in the past and what should happen to meet your goals in the future. You’ll be doing a content audit, taking a look under the hood for technical issues, analyzing your marketing strategy and other data points to increase the success of your blog.

Your goals when you just started out will change as your blog grows. New systems should be put in place to help you to meet those goals. The old systems should be analysed to see what stays, what goes and what can be improved upon.

Being able to do a blog audit regularly will help you to keep your blog fresh and competitive as new blogs are always coming on the market, wanting to take your spot. Wanna see me do a blog audit? Check out the video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUMQzD5DlmA

Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a professional blogger completely review your blog? Let me help you with that! I’ll check all aspects of your blog, tell you what’s working and what can be improved upon and I’ll give you 5 actions to take right this minute that can help you make MORE MONEY, increase your email subscribers and grow your traffic on your blog. Sounds great? Book a blog audit here.

Who needs a blog audit?

A blog audit can help every blogger.

When you’re just starting out, you’ll want to check and ensure everything is set up on your blog and ready for the influx of traffic you’re about to receive. You want to check off your site design, your email service, your social sharing buttons, make sure you’re optimized for SEO, connected to Google analytics and lots more.

It will be especially beneficial to you if you’re the one who built your blog and you’ve been working at it for a while. A fresh set of experienced eyes will help you with constructive criticism even though it may be difficult to hear. With all that effort, you want to make sure you’re writing effective blog posts.

A blogger who’s been at this for a while and finds themselves stuck and not able to get more traffic or make any money could use a blog audit to identify where the problem lies.

Using a blog audit checklist will help you to ask yourself the hard questions about your blog and what you’ve been working on to try and move the needle. Are you really working on the things that will help you to grow? Have you been avoiding things like SEO or email list building because they seem daunting?

An experienced blogger can also utilize a blog audit every now and then to break through a plateau and scale your business.

If you’re experienced, it means your blog has been around for some time. Is the content fresh? What about the layout? What can you change about your monetization strategy to grow to the next level.

How often should you perform a blog audit?

At the very least, you want to do a blog audit right now if you’ve never done one before and then do one every six months to a year.

Great blog growth happens every six months if you’re really working at it and it’s important to analyze your progress so that you can keep moving the needle. My blog audit clients usually end up joining my blog coaching membership to make sure they stay on track with their growth.

You know the saying you can’t know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been? This is that. You need to take a look every now and then at your blogging progress.

What’s working? What’s resonating with your audience and causing them to leave comments and return to your blog? What kind of posts fell flat in never-never land and what went viral? I’ve used my audit checklist to substantially grow my lifestyle and health blogs so I know self-auditing works.

This kind of information will help you to know what type of posts to continue producing and what kind of posts to trash or refresh. An audit can help you to narrow down your audience that you will turn into raving fans. Raving fans buy products you recommend, share your posts and jump on your email list.

You’ll want to look at your social media channels as well. Which one experienced the most growth? Why is that so? Were you more engaged there? Did they bring you traffic? Should you invest more time or use that time elsewhere?

What about your content upgrades and paid products. How did they do? What type resonated with your audience more and grew your email list or converted into cold, hard cash? You’ll need to know this so you can improve upon those products and create others similarly.

Don’t Forget the Back-End Mechanics

Go through your website as a reader would. With all your hard work at blogging, you want to make sure that your readers are having a good experience on your blog. Are all your plugins working? When you share a post on Twitter, does it pick up your Twitter handle so you’re tagged in the tweet? Is your Facebook plugin still performing?

What about your site design? Is it still fresh and relevant to your niche? What are the popular blogs in your niche looking like these days? How does your blog look on mobile? How easy is it for someone to leave a comment on your posts?

Are there any broken links on your site? Are all your posts interwoven? Are all your posts optimized with relevant keywords and do all your images have alt tags filled out? Are there any pins or images that need to be refreshed?

Let’s bring this all together and look at what you’ll check for when completing a website audit.

Blog Audit Checklist: How to Perform a Blog Audit

Here are all the things you’ll be checking for when completing a self-audit.

Logo design and placement

Use of prime real estate on the blog

Blog theme and general layout/design

Your menu structure and navigational links

Your headlines

Your content – length, relevancy to niche, authoritativeness, layout of the posts and more

SEO – keyword research, interlinking, keyword usage, on-page SEO

Email marketing – your opt-ins, your welcome email, placement of sign-up boxes

Social sharing – what happens when you click them, do you have all the relevant ones, placement of buttons

Ease of commenting on your blog

Your about page

Affiliate link placement and strategy

Broken links

Google analytics

My post on essential home page elements will help you to navigate some of the bullet points above.

Professional Blog Audit Services

That’s a lot to think about but once you get through it all, your blog will feel so much lighter (and profitable.) Similar to how we clean out our wardrobes ever so often to make room for new outfits, it’s important to audit your blog regularly to keep it cranking. You want your blog to be a well-oiled machine, primed to make the most money or bring in the most traffic at all times.

How often depends on you. I find that I regularly go through as often as every month. It’s easier to manage and doesn’t seem as mammoth a task when it’s time to do it. The end-of-year audit is my biggest one.

It’s important to get outside help in one way or another when completing your blog audit. This could be as simple as polling your readers, asking them to complete a survey on your blog. This will reveal to you what your audience wants from you. That can identify blogs post to write or even products to create.

Or, you can utilize my blog audit service, one of my clients’ favorite tools. They all leave with a solid strategy for growth in the months following an audit. Head over to see what my clients are saying and learn how my blog audits can help you make money as a blogger.

Struggling to monetize your blog and earn real money from your blogging efforts? You may need to work with a blogging coach. Instead of following a tedious course, a coach can show you the exact things YOU should focus on to build YOUR unique blog. Book a free discovery call with me here. Let’s work together on your blog strategy so you can finally start earning income from your blog!

We’re not all good at data

Knowing our stats is crucial to our success in all areas of life really. Blogging is no different. Dig as deep as you can into your analytics to find out how you can improve your blog and make the most of it.

It’s no use doing all this content creation and blog marketing if you’re unsure of your efforts and have no clue how to take it to the next level. Put in the work. Have your handy-dandy audit checklist ready to go and break up this project into little tasks. Do it over the course of a week and then watch your blog grow.

Want to get a sneak peek of what one of my blog audits looks like? Here’s a mini version. This was a complimentary audit for a member of my Help a Blogger Out Community who was having a bit of trouble monetizing her blog.

My Free Blog Audit Checklist Offer

If you’re not sure where to start or have never considered doing any kind of blog audit, this is for you. I offer free blog audits every month to either my email list or members of my Facebook Group. Join my email list by downloading some free content you can use on your blog and you will automatically be added to my email list for your chance to get this very useful diagnostic checkup for free.
In your complete website audit, I’ll take a look at your blog in detail and provide you with a video of me going over your blog, showing you ways to improve it. I’ll send you a spreadsheet of the keywords you currently rank for and how to improve their rankings, tell you exactly what I would do to make money if I was the owner of your blog, and help you to craft a strategy to meet your specific goals.

It will not be an overwhelming review. We already wear enough hats as bloggers and it can be hard to know where you should focus your energy in order to meet your goals.

When you purchase a blog audit, you’ll be asked to fill out a form to give me the backstory on your blogging journey thus far. You will get specific, personal, actionable steps to take to improve your blog. Let’s give it a go, shall we?

Related: Curious about the top common mistakes I see bloggers make in my blog audits? You’re in luck.

Did you know that there were Facebook groups for bloggers filled with people who will share, like, and comment on your blog posts<g class="gr_ gr_215 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style replaceWithoutSep" id="215" data-gr-id="215">?</g>

There’s a Facebook group for everything. Actually, there are several Facebook groups for everything. There are so many Facebook groups for everything because they work. Blogging Facebook groups can help to grow your blog in a variety of ways and this post will teach how to use Facebook for bloggers.

What is a Facebook Group and Why You Should Join Them

A Facebook group is a place where like-minded people come together to share their thoughts on a particular subject. In such a group, there are opportunities to learn from people who have more knowledge and experience on the group’s subject matter.

You’ll be able to share your own thoughts as well as network with those on different experience levels.

A Facebook group is either closed, private, or secret. If it’s private, you won’t be able to see any of the posts or members of the group unless you join the group. But you can find the group by using the Facebook search feature or searching for it on Google.

If the group is secret, you won’t be able to find the group at all even if you search for it by name. You’ll have to get the invite link from the owner of a secret group.

Or, the group can simply be a closed group. The info in the group is still public and accessible but you have the option to join the group so you can post on the wall, engage with the content posted and get notification about group happenings.

Facebook groups have become so popular for a bunch of different reasons. The one you care about the most as a blogger is the fact that it’s become quite a task to grow your audience via Facebook pages these days.

Blogging is STILL one of the best ways to make a fulltime income online. Take my free course How to Start a Profitable Blog today to learn how to create a blog that makes money from the start.

It’s understandable, Facebook is a business and we are the products of such. We have to pay to play. My lifestyle page has well over 6000 likes, however, reaches less than 5% of these likers when I post on my page. Ugh.

In a group, the engagement is much higher. You have a much better chance of your content being seen and engaged with, even in larger groups.

Most groups also have days where you can promote your own content to be engaged with by other group members.

Finding High-Value Facebook Groups for Bloggers

Not all Facebook groups are created equal. When I discovered that these groups could potentially be game-changing for me, I joined a bunch of them all at once.

I immediately started to drown in notification hell and got lost in daily share threads. The time suck was immense and I quickly had to take a step back and evaluate several things:

Are these groups actually bringing me traffic?

Am I learning anything from the members of these groups?

Could I be doing something better with my time that would make my membership in these groups unnecessary?

Like I said, all Facebook groups are not created equally. You will first need to determine what your ultimate end goal is and decide if the group you’ve joined can help you to achieve that.

Different groups have different end-goals and can be used for different purposes.

[mailerlite_form form_id=13]

How to Use Blogging Facebook Groups to Grow Your Traffic

There are blogging Facebook groups that have several different purposes and some for singular purposes. All beneficial. All you need to do is narrow down your focus and decide what groups best fit your needs. The ones I have decided to stay in provide a few different solutions:

Instant Likes

There are a few closed Facebook groups that I am a part of that follow a strict schedule. In these groups, you are able to add links to your latest Instagram or Facebook page post and all the people on the thread who also add links are required to click on your link and like your post.

This helps with your engagement rates on these platforms. If you time your posts to the schedule of these groups your fresh posts may receive an instant boost. Facebook and Instagram will see this post as valuable since so many people are liking your new content.

Repins

Repin groups are great because the more people repinning your pins, the better chance you have for a pin to go viral or at least be seen by a vast audience.

Stay away from groups or threads that require you to repin all pins that are added to the thread. You want to pick and choose the highest quality and most relevant content to repin so that it will be beneficial to your audience.

Blog Comments

I used to feel real cheeky joining threads requesting others to leave a comment on my blog posts. I think commenting should be something you do when the content really interests you, not because you are somehow required to.

However, I’ve come to realize that these threads are particularly beneficial when thread members get to choose which posts to click through and comment on.

This is where the Facebook preview of your link is super important as well as the pitch you use to introduce your post.

I use the opportunity to let others know why my link would be a beneficial read and usually get people who are genuinely interested and leave finding the content helpful and worth their click. Some of these people end up on on my email list too!

Guidance and Advice

Yet other Facebook groups are useful even without promo days simply for the invaluable advice from bloggers seasoned in their particular areas of specialization.

No matter how good we get at something, there’s someone out there even better at it or who approaches the subject from a different angle. It helps to be able to connect with them, ask them your blogging questions and consume the content they share.

Tips on Maximizing Your Facebook Group Membership

I keep a spreadsheet on all Facebook groups I have joined. I’m still a member of a great deal of them so there’s no way they will all pop up in my feed.

My spreadsheet notes their promo day so that when I have new content to share, I can. I also make note of the groups that are good for advice and networking and make sure to visit these groups at least twice a week.

I’d hate to miss out on the opportunity to learn from the discussion happening in these groups because they are stellar. Also, as someone who blogs about blogging, I like to see what issues other bloggers have so I can either address them or write about these issues on my post blog.

I don’t participate in Follow for Follow threads. I actually leave groups that encourage this because there’s no point.

I don’t want to follow people all willy-nilly. I’m only interested in following people with helpful or at least funny or pretty content and I only want people to follow me who are actually interested in the content I post.

Follow for follow threads boost numbers but what about engagement? Engagement is so much more important. You’re more likely to get engagement from people who chose to follow on their own volition.

I do participate in threads like that ask you to follow 5 or 10 accounts. Those give me the option of picking and choosing who to follow and hopefully people who follow me will do so because they like my profile and content.

I save threads that I participate in. When you drop a link in a share thread, save the post by clicking on the three dots in the right-hand corner of the post. It will be saved to your links so that you can go back and finish your threads. Here’s a visual:

The red arrow shows the three dots to hit. Here you’ll find the option to save the post. The black arrow shows where you’ll find it later. I usually go to my saved posts at the end of the day or first thing the next morning to finish my threads.

Many threads have a 24hr turnaround time so it’s safe to revisit it at these times. I finish the thread then hit unsave post.

Saving the post also gives you the opportunity to turn off notifications for the post. This prevents you from drowning in a sea of notifications every time someone leaves a link in the thread.

Please do take the time to always read the group’s rules, usually located in a pinned post or in the sidebar. Respecting a group’s rules is a simple courtesy to offer to the admins who take the time to ensure a rewarding experience for you.

It’s also important to read the rules of the thread you’re participating in and follow these rules to ensure a fair playing field for all. You wouldn’t want to be banned from a group for not reciprocating because members will remember you in other groups as well.

Starting Your Own Facebook Group

Eventually, or maybe right away, you will want to start your own Facebook group. Every blog has an audience or is building an audience, of people who are interested in your content.

Your readers all have one thing in common. They’re interested in the type of content that you share. That’s if you niched down well enough. They may want to interact with you on a more engaged level whether to ask questions, get your feedback or just hear more from you.

They may also enjoy interacting with others in the same target audience to share their own stories and network with each other.

Creating your own Facebook group is similar to creating your own email list. Your Facebook group gives you the opportunity to share your content with an audience that’s already showed their interest. Groups can work for any niche blogger.

If you’re a food blogger, this can be a place that you share recipes that don’t always make it to your blog. You can share recipes of other sources that you want to try and provide feedback to group members who may want to ask questions about your recipes. It’s an amazing place for people to share their creations from your blog too! They’ll love that.

If you’re a lifestyle blogger, share your favourite tips on curating your best life. Share your best finds and deals you come across. Share books you’re reading, share your morning routine. You know what your audience wants from you, share more of that.

Every type of blogger can benefit from building their own tribe of loyal followers and this is just a very engaging way to interact with those that care about your content.

Of course, Facebook groups are just one small aspect of your traffic driving strategies, albeit an important factor. Click here to read my guide to creating killer content and beginning your close and personal journey with SEO. SEO should be a huge chunk of your overall traffic driving strategy.

Pinterest is also a major traffic driver for blogs. Click here to read my extensive guide to Pinterest!

With all that said, I’m sure you’re now interested in finding your own groups to join. The list I’ve put together is dear to my heart as I’ve weeded out groups I determined to be unhelpful.

I’ve taken out groups that I call spamfests. The wall is nothing but links to blog posts with no rhyme or reason and absolutely no interaction on them. A waste of your time. In fact, if you find any group on this list unhelpful I’d love if you dropped me a note so I can review.

I would also super love it if you joined the Help a Blogger Out Facebook group.
Welcome to email marketing for bloggers 101. Every blogger needs email marketing. This post will show you how to build your email list with targeted subscribers who want to hear from you!

You need an email list no matter your blog size, demographics, intent, niche or target audience needs an email list. Every blogger needs creative opt-in forms and lead magnets to gather emails.

Your Love-Hate Relationship With Email Marketing

The psychology behind our emotions toward email marketing is interesting. We get bombarded with dozens of email each day in our own inboxes so it is understandable why we may have negative emotions towards building our own email list. We barely have time to get through our own emails and often wonder how we ended up on some of these lists!

However.

Emails are still the top method of connecting with an audience. In fact, email is 40% more effective at acquiring new customers than Facebook and Twitter. Compare that to the fact that only 2% of your Facebook page’s audience is actually seeing your message (unless you want to shell out for ads.)

A tweet has a lifespan of around 18 minutes on Twitter. 91% of US consumers use email daily with anywhere from 10-60 minutes spent browsing marketing emails each week.

Let’s think about how you personally use emails now. How often do you open a company’s marketing emails? How often do you get annoyed enough to unsubscribe?

How often do you click through to check out what they’re yammering about? How often do you actually make a purchase because of an email you received<g class="gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style replaceWithoutSep" id="9" data-gr-id="9">?</g>

<g class="gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style replaceWithoutSep" id="9" data-gr-id="9"></g><g class="gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Style replaceWithoutSep" id="9" data-gr-id="9">My</g> blogging business exploded when I found a good Pinterest strategy. Ready to take your blog to the next level? My new Everything Pinterest ebook will teach you everything you need to know to drive BIG traffic to your blog and MAKE MONEY ONLINE. Grab the book here and let’s make some money with your blog!

Why Bloggers Should Focus on Email Marketing

Whether you’re in blogging to make money or simply to connect with your readers, an email marketing campaign is invaluable to your bottom line.

A reader may come across your blog, read and decide it is wonderful and even decide to go ahead and follow you on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest but algorithms and life causes them to never see a post from you again and they’ve moved on.

However, if you had managed to capture their email, you have an open line of communication to that reader so long as they continue to use that email address and remain on your list. Emails are a crucial part of my affiliate marketing income on this blog.

You own your list. If Pinterest decided to implement crazy algorithms like Facebook and Instagram tomorrow, imagine what could happen to your blog’s traffic!

But with this list, no one controls the communication between you and your reader but you and your reader. It’s been reported that for every $1 spent, your email list’s return on that investment is $38. You need to build your list.

How to Build Your Email List

Hopefully, you have by now realised that even if you have no product to sell, you still need a list if only to keep in contact with your audience. Email, with a 40x higher customer acquisition rate than social media, is the crux of building your die-hard tribe.

You will turn your list into raving fans that look forward to your content and will buy anything you sell eventually. Or at least click through to read your post and then share it on social media.

But how do you even begin? The first thing to do is to sign up with an email service provider. I will be giving you two professional options below, one is paid and one is free to begin with.

Convertkit

Convertkit is a premium email service provider that I use on my main blog. What I like about them is how easy it is to use as a newbie, how great their sign-up forms look, how easy it was to embed these sign-up forms into different areas of my blog plus how smooth the email automation process is.

They have a WordPress plugin to connect your forms to your blog and they allow you to attach items in the body of your emails to your subscribers. This is helpful when sending digital products or freebies to your list.

They also have great looking landing pages and make it super easy for a reader to sign up to your email list and begin receiving emails that you have pre-written to go out in a sequence.

If all of this sounds like Chinese to you, read their free Complete Guide to Email Marketing Ebook here.

Mailerlite

Mailerlite is the ESP I use on this blog. I heard about them after I had already signed up for ConvertKit incidentally, and decided to try them out since they’re free. They boast the fact that all they’re paid services are included in the free version.

You begin to pay after you hit 1000 subscribers. That was a very enticing offer, however, I ended up continuing on with Convertkit on my main blog because the features are more powerful, more professional-looking and yet, easier to use.

There are a couple of key features of ConvertKit not available on Mailerlite like the ability to add email attachments. This means that your freebies, products, lead magnets will all have to be hosted somewhere else.

You’ll need to send your subscribers a link to the attachment instead of sending it directly. I wasn’t a fan of having to host my products elsewhere, susceptible to security issues.

ConvertKit’s segmenting of your list and tagging of your list when they click links in your emails are another reason I prefer their more robust suite of features. I manage multiple blogs and wanted to be able to control who gets what email easily.

This is a superb feature if you have just one blog but write about different topics, for instance, mommy bloggers who teach their readers how to start their own blogs. Not all of your audience may be interested in that information so this makes it easier for you to tag them into different email sequences.

Just a couple of advanced features for you to consider when deciding between free and paid. ConvertKit is pretty affordable so if you intend to make money blogging, you’ll want to go with their features from day one or switch to them soon. It will pay for itself very quickly even if you have no product to sell. You’ll find out more on this further in this post.

On the contrast, I won’t discount Mailerlite’s features. They do have lots of features that are perfect for new bloggers and some that are even comparative to Convertkit.

I still use it on this blog so now I have good experience with both and I must say that while it takes quite a few more clicks to perform the same function in Mailerlite than it might in Convertkit, I’ve gotten over this and looked on the brighter side. FREE!

Not sure how to build an email list? Take my easy and FREE 5-day email list-building course below. I take you through all of this step by step using Mailerlite. You can of course also reach me in the Help a Blogger Out Facebook group if you have any questions.

Creating an Opt-In, Lead Magnet, Landing Page and Email Sequence

I won’t go into incredible detail here as I teach you how to do all of these things in my free list-building course. However, let’s go into what all of these things are. An opt-in is the form used to capture emails. You can easily place one anywhere on your blog or within a blog post, like the one above for my free course.

This opt-in also demonstrates the need for a creative, compelling lead magnet. A lead magnet is a fancy name for a product or service offering, usually free, that is given away in exchange for an email. In the above form, I’m offering to help you build your email list in return for your email.

The point is that you need to come up with a such an attractive lead magnet (also called freebie) that makes me feel compelled to hand over my email address so that I can get my free product or service. It’s not enough to have an opt-in that simply says “Subscribe to our newsletter” or “Get new posts here” or something similar. That evokes absolutely no response from me and is likely to result in much fewer signups than creating a convincing lead magnet.

Landing Page

A landing page is a stand-alone page that has one purpose and one purpose only. That purpose is to capture emails or to sell a product. A landing page is important to help market your freebie or product separate from a blog post.

For instance, though I have created an awesome blog post telling people why they need email marketing, I also have a landing page set up for it for the sole purpose of selling the course.

The landing page is hosted by ConvertKit but uses my domain name thanks to their plugin. As you can see, there’s no other navigation or distraction on this page. You can either sign up or close out the page.

With my blog post, there are lots of other distractions to take you away from the signup form. We see pretty, shiny new things in the sidebar or elsewhere in the post and forget all about why we were there.

Therefore marketing my landing page gets my point across without distraction and converts better than a blog post that also has the promise of Facebook groups and Pinterest strategy in the sidebar.

Email Sequence

If you do sign up for my Pinterest strategy or any other freebie on this blog, you will immediately get your email with a link to download your freebie. Then, you’ll begin to receive other emails I have set up within my ESP to go out after certain days have passed or if you clicked on certain things in my emails.

The type of emails you should be sending, how often and other specifics is something you’ll need lots of research to perfect because what works for one may not work for the other. However, there are some basic sequences to play around with.

For me, I send out your freebie and a link to the post that explains it in detail so that you can refer to it if you need. I also include an invite to join my Facebook group and then wrap up, keeping things pretty succinct.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="735" height="1300" src="https://www.blogwithmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/email-course.png" alt="Email Marketing for Bloggers 101: Learn how to grow your subscriber list from scratch with opt-in set up and freebie ideas for popular blogging niches.
A few days later I will send out an intro email with my name, my picture, what kind of info is available on my blog and maybe another freebie. I’m offering up so much value here that it’s hard to resist opening. That’s what you’re after.

Then a couple days later a follow-up is sent with an offer to help with any issues encountered using the freebies or for us to connect over a coaching session. The sales people call this a soft-sell, warming you up for the kill…er..the sale.

If they haven’t clicked on my offer to connect, they are moved over to what I call my evergreen sequence where they’re sent snippets of my most valuable posts once per week with the link to click through if they’re interested.

This is all done automatically inside ConvertKit, I haven’t even sent a manual email to my subscribers yet and already I have connected with them in a valuable way.

Email Marketing for Bloggers Made Easy

The point of this all is that you can set up all these emails one-time and forget it. There’s no need to keep sending the same kind of email manually, over and over, everytime you get new subscribers.

Each time you write a cornerstone post or have a new product/freebie, you add that email to your sequence. This is passive income at it’s best since as more people get added to your list, more opportunities for a sale are happening and you didn’t do anything new.

This type of sequence with your best posts, your old freebies and products is important for sales or marketing your best material. It’s not enough to simply gather emails and begin sending them the latest posts on your blog. Bring a constant flow of traffic to your best performers and sell things that you’ve long stopped marketing in lieu of new, higher priced products.

If you have no products yourself, you can link to your best-performing affiliates in your emails. Yet another way to make money from your list and you can tell which links are doing better than others. This kind of data is invaluable.

Recapping this post, if you skimmed:

You need an email list to grow your tribe and make money with your blog.

You should begin building your list from day one.

You need an email service provider that allows you to quickly and easily create opt-ins and landing pages.

You need an irresistible lead magnet to capture emails.

You need an awesome sequence of emails that you use to bring attention to old posts, products and freebies.

I keep hearing that Pinterest is really good for bloggers but what IS Pinterest and how in the heck do you get blog traffic from it?! If you find yourself trying to figure this out, this post on Pinterest strategies for bloggers is for you.

What is Pinterest? You may think you know, but you have NO idea!

Was that a little cheesy? Sorry.

Pinterest is a powerhouse when it comes to driving traffic to your blog. It’s a good idea to master Pinterest rather quickly if you want to <g class="gr_ gr_6 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="6" data-gr-id="6">monetise</g> your blog and grow quickly. Don’t worry, it’s not hard to grasp.

What is Pinterest?

Firstly, let’s clear the notion that Pinterest is a social media platform. When was the last time you wanted to connect with a friend and said hmm, let me hit them up on Pinterest? Nah.

What Pinterest is, is a robust search engine made up of visual images that pop up when you type your search query into the search box.

Pinterest’s user base of over 250 million people is 71% female.

What that means for you is holy cow that’s a lot of people who could see your pin and hey, if your blog speaks to a female audience, this is your new play area.

Bloggers need Pinterest because it can drive an immense amount of traffic to your blog very quickly if you master the platform. It’s as simple as that.

My blogging business exploded when I found a good Pinterest strategy. Ready to take your blog to the next level? My new Everything Pinterest ebook will teach you everything you need to know to drive BIG traffic to your blog and MAKE MONEY ONLINE. Grab the book here and let’s make some money with your blog!

I’ve been pinning i.e. adding pictures to Pinterest from my lifestyle blog for quite a while now and get some amount of traffic from it even though I never took the time to understand Pinterest.

I knew I needed to sit down and figure it out one day because I saw the benefits of using Pinterest. When I finally did, this is what happened.

What are you seeing here? I grew my Pinterest page connected to my lifestyle blog from 29k monthly views to over 115k monthly views in 30 days.

Imagine what having 115,710 people see your pins from your blog each month could mean? And this was simply with some experimentation. Since then, I have actually taken a few Pinterest courses and whoa traffic!

To get started on your Pinterest page, the first thing you want to do is create a pretty profile page. It’s the first thing that people will see when they click over to your page when deciding if they should follow you or not.

Just like everywhere else, a high follower count on Pinterest helps. Even though there are ways to get around this which I love and will talk about further down in this post.

Building Your Pinterest Profile Page

If there’s a section to be filled out, fill it out. Remember, Pinterest is a search engine so you will need to take every opportunity presented to add keywords related to your blog on your profile page.

This means your name, your description, your board names and board descriptions all need to have been filled out thoroughly with keywords that are relevant to your blog niche.

Have a look at my profile page. You’ll see that the name is also filled out with keywords that are directly related to what I blog about. If anyone were searching for people who pin on your relevant keywords, you’ll want to be in the mix. (Update: This is not limited to only 30 characters so make the best use of it as you can.)

You’ll notice that my description is also a well-thought-out sentence that has to do with my blog. It’s not just a bunch of hashtags or keywords stuffed together. All a part of the strategy.

My profile picture is also a part of this strategy. For the longest while, it used to be my logo. But I realised that on Pinterest, people like to be able to connect with a person. It helps to build trust that I’m not spam but a real person blogging and offering these tips.

Notice that I still stuff my logo in their by way of my t-shirt. All about the branding baby.

Blogging is STILL one of the best ways to make a fulltime income online. Take my free course How to Start a Profitable Blog today to learn how to create a blog that makes money from the start.

Organizing Your Pinterest Boards

Using board covers as an opportunity to brand your page is an extra step that’s not completely necessary but is aesthetically pleasing. It also offers another opportunity to brand.

You’ll also want your most important boards at the top of your page. See below I have the board that I pin all my blog pins on as the very first board and my first group board I created is there as well.

You can find the option to choose a board cover on the settings page of each board. Simply hover over a board and the pencil will appear to allow you to edit the board.

Claiming Your Blog, Your Pinterest Business Page

I’m able to see all these analytics from my Pinterest page because I have connected my blog to my Pinterest account and turned my Pinterest profile into a business profile.

This also gives you the added bonus of enabling rich pins. Rich pins have more information below the pin than regular pins, giving you a better chance of standing out by way of your branding, description etc. Like so:

If you compare the bottom of these two pins, one has a lot more information than the other. The angry bird pin has no snippet from the blog post where mine does.

You’re also able to see my Pinterest Profile name there so if this person wanted to click over to see what other amazing pins I have, they could. Every bit of information is important to help inspire a click on your pin instead of its neighbour.

Here, let’s zoom into the bottom of my pin so you can see what I mean.

The top part has more information about where this pin originated from and the first few lines of the blog post. The bottom part has the description that I set for this image so that if anyone pins this image from my blog, that’s the description that will go with it.

See how it has the keywords that people will use if I want them to find this pin? Spongebob themed birthday party. All keywords on their own. Then there’s Spongebob party games and decor.

And now I see a type-o in the description so great job there, Mo! (Runs to go fix)

How To Activate Rich Pins

When you started your blog, you would have more-than-likely installed the Yoast SEO plugin to help you to optimize your blog and each post for search engines. This plugin can also help you to activate rich pins on your blog.

Click on the social tab within the settings of the plugin and ensure that the open graph metadata is enabled, like so:

Once that is done you can head to the Pinterest Rich Pin validator and put in the URL (direct link) for any blog post on your blog. Hit apply once it’s been validated, and you’ll receive an email from Pinterest once it’s approved, usually within a day or two.

If for some reason you try to validate and it doesn’t work, it’s probably because the open graph isn’t set up properly. I had this issue when I first tried and had to install a separate open graph plugin altogether.

However, if this is a fresh WordPress install, you should have no issues.

You notice that the frontpage settings of the Yoast plugin are fully filled out as well? This ensures that if anyone is sharing my blog’s homepage and not necessarily a page within my blog, all the information and an optimised Facebook image size is shared.

Take the time to go through all the settings of your Yoast plugin, it is invaluable!

How to Find and Join Group Boards

So remember above when I said that followers are important but there’s a great workaround until you build your own following? It’s the infamous and elusive Pinterest group board.

A group board is a board that has multiple contributors. That’s it really. Well established group boards have thousands of followers which means if you manage to get onto these group boards as a contributor, you instantly have access to these thousands of followers without having thousands of followers yourself.

So even when you do get to thousands of followers, group boards can still be a great resource because it’s a whole new audience altogether.

You’ll know a group board is a group board by the icon on it depicting multiple people. Have a look at what I mean below. There’s a circle with three profile pictures on the group board cover image.

How to join a group board is a whole different ballgame. Some group boards have contact information right in the description, making things super simple.

This is my group board for bloggers of any niche. You can see it here (and request to join.) Two things to note, instructions to join the board are clearly listed in the description.

However, if they’re not, you can also message the group board owner to see if they’ll add you. You’ll know who the board owner is by looking at the list of contributors.

Related: 4 Unique Ways to Find ACTIVE Group Boards to Join

Notice that my profile image is the first one in the list of the three contributors you can see? That’s because it’s my board. Simply click on the first profile image you see in the list to follow the board owner (because it’s always a polite necessity to follow board owners before requesting to join their board) and then you can use Pinterest’s messaging platform to send a message if no info was listed.

They won’t always add you, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Some boards will directly say they’re not open to more contributors. You can still try your luck but I usually simply move on.

There’s always another board to join. By the way, I have since grown my following to over 4000 and have a bunch of other group boards here. See if you’re a good fit for any.

How to Create Fantastic Pinnable Images

So you have your profile all set up, you’ve created several boards in your niche and already filled out these boards with at least 15 pins from others. This gets your profile and boards all filled out and robust and now you’re ready for the next step.

This is to work on some of your own pins. Go to your Pinterest feed and see what kind of images make it to the top of your page. Take note of which ones make you want to click through to their pages or blogs.

What is it about these images? Chances are, it will be the colour scheme, the images they use within the scheme, the size of the pin and the clarity of the words (if any) on the image.

The optimal image size for your pin should be at least 735×1102 pixels. This is the smallest pin you’ll be using, feel free to go a little wider and much longer if you please.

I use Canva to create my images as they have fantastic free layouts ready to be customized. Take some time to go through the fonts and colours to create a template that matches your blog’s brand.

Use this template, tweaked for each post, again and again, to create a branded, recognizable pin style.

Whenever someone sees your pin, they’re likely to recognize and click through if they’ve done so before and enjoyed your content or found it helpful.

Create Multiple Images

Within the context of the branded pin template you’ve created, use different images and headlines to create multiple images for the same post. Test to see which one sticks and receives the most repins and click-throughs.

If you’re on lots of group boards, you’ll want to create several different images so that you’re not pinning the same image over and over to different boards.

Later on, you can assess the success of your pin and decide whether you want to create a separate pin altogether for the post or continue to repin the same image to people who may have missed it the first time.

Add two or three pinnable images to each blog post that you write. Make sure you add the description of the blog post in the alt tag of the image as this is what is used as the description on Pinterest when someone shares your post.

You’ll also want to make sure that you’ve installed social share plugins on your blog to make each post super easy to share. Check out this blogging blueprint where I list all my plugins including my favourite for social media sharing to all platforms. (And plugins you should be using to prevent hackers!)

Two Manual Pinning Strategies

If you’re not using a pin scheduler, you can manually pin daily to get great results.

Simply keep tabs on your pins by adding them to a spreadsheet. On another spreadsheet, you’ll want to keep your list of group boards.Every day, add three pins to these group boards, more if they allow, but space them out.

That way all your pins will be added in rotation to your group boards.

You’ll want to do this at high traffic times for your blog. Usually, that is around late evening but watch your Google Analytics to find this information for your own blog as for me it’s actually around noon.

If you’ve not yet set up Google Analytics or you’re not sure how to get the most from it, take my 5day free blog traffic challenge where I show you how to get the most from it with video tutorials.

My course Everything Pinterest goes 10 levels deeper than this post to give you the step by step details with videos and tutorials on implementing a comprehensive Pinterest strategy that makes money and brings in massive traffic. Sign up here today!

Another manual pinning strategy is to pin from your Google Analytics. That’s where the gold is! It’s always best to have data behind your efforts so you’re sure you’re getting the best results from your time, especially if you’re putting manual effort into your pinning. I share my exact strategy using videos in the above-linked course.

Scheduling Pins

Yes, you’ll want to repin your pins over and over again, maybe once monthly or at least once every other month. You’ll also want to break up your pins with helpful pins from other people and pins that you’ve found in other niches that complement your own. How do you do this as efficiently as possible?

By using a pin scheduler. Tailwind is my scheduler of choice because of ease of use, it’s robust analytics machine and tribes included in the platform. I wrote a full breakdown of how I use Tailwind here and all the benefits of using it to schedule your pins.

Tailwind easily lets you schedule hundreds of pins per day and helps you to determine which pins, boards and tribes are doing well for you. It’s how I managed to grow my Pinterest so well in so little time! It’s free to try up to 100 pins so give it a test run.

Tailwind Tribes

So what are these tribes I keep talking about anyway? It’s like a group board, but to me even better. A Tailwind Tribe is a group of people who have committed to sharing each other’s pins.

I’ve joined a bunch of all niche blogger tribes and a few specific tribes relating to my genres of the Caribbean, blogging and fashion. What’s so great about Tribes is that the owner usually has at least a 1:1 sharing rule, meaning you must share one pin to your own boards for every pin that you add to the tribe.

This keeps things fair as it is almost impossible to track this on a group board which can become dumping grounds for pins if not regulated.

On Tribes however, the Tribe owner and their admins can easily see the ratio of each Tribe member and warn or kick them out of the Tribe if they’re not complying with the rules. Here’s an invite to my all niche Tribe for bloggers.

Here’s one all niche Tribe I’m in. From this shot, you can see that I’ve had 25 reshares so far with 1 repin. My reshares have the potential to reach over 99k people based on the follower count of the people that have shared them from the Tribe.

Repins may be low here because all of the reshares may not have actually been published yet. When you hit reshare on a pin inside your Tribe, it is scheduled, not published immediately.

I have quite a few scheduled already so it can take a while for my reshares to actually be published. Or, it could just be because my pins suck, who knows.

At the bottom of the screenshot, you see my pin ratio. I have added 32 pins so far in this tribe and have shared (scheduled) 29 pins from others.

Tribe admins can see this for all members of the Tribe and decide who to boot out, making it very reciprocal. Ready to take the Tailwind dive? Sign up for your free trial here.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-50419 alignright" src="https://www.blogwithmo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/blog-host-2.png" alt="These are all the reasons why it's so important to self-host your blog if you want to blog as a business. Because freeness ain’t good, hunny!

Reasons to Self-Host Your Blog

If it’s free, you’re the product

When we sign up for any free service, it means we are the product. Think about it, Facebook is free to use therefore we are the product.

We’re the millions of users that are targeted by ads each day.

Ads in the news feed, ads in the timeline, ads on websites not even on Facebook. Sheesh. It’s the same with free blog sites.

You’re the product and they get to run their own ads on your blog, without you making a dime. Don’t you want your money?

The best thing I ever did for my blogging business was hiring a coach. Ready to take your blog to the next level? Here are my blog coaching packages. You can choose one or email me to customise one that is right for you. Let’s make some money with your blog!

If it’s free, you don’t own it

Here’s a biggie. The content that you spend hours creating and perfecting and marketing can all vanish one day if the free blog site decides you’ve violated their terms of service somehow. You have to abide by their rules.

They get to tell you what you can write about. And if they don’t like it, poof, it’s gone. Massively popular websites have fallen to Blogspot’s whim and lost their entire blogs because they were hosted on Google’s free service, instead of paying for their own. Now that’s a scary thought.

If it’s free, you can’t monetize

On some free services, you can monetize your blogs with ads or affiliate links, but most don’t allow you do to so any at all while others take half of your earnings. The nerve. You may not mind this if you’re using your blog as more of an online diary but if you’re thinking about making money eventually, then self-host now. Do it right from the beginning and save yourself the hassle later.

If it’s free, your functionality is limited

Many free platforms limit what you can or can’t do on their site. The free version of WordPress won’t allow you to install any plugin you choose nor any theme you choose. They give you a narrow list to choose from. Well, that sucks!

If it’s free, you’re showing your lack of professionalism

What do I mean by this? I mean, if it’s free then your website would be something like blogwithmo.wordpress.com… Would you take professional advice from me if I presented that domain to you? You’d question my authority just a little bit, wouldn’t you? Sure, you can buy a domain name and point it to your free blog. But the savvy reader will see through that in a jiffy (and potential sponsors sure will) and they’ll be off to find a blog that looks like they know what they’re talking about. A free site just gives the impression of an amateur. It screams “you ain’t ready.”

Anyone of these five reasons should be enough for you to self-host your blog from the beginning. Self-hosting is an investment you’re making in yourself and your product that you’re putting forward to the world. Do it the pro-way, step by step following my guide and you’ll have a beautiful, robust blog ready to woo your readers. Is your next question who should you host with? Why Siteground of course. They’re the most reliable for new bloggers everywhere.

Recently I wrote about all the reasons I think you should start a blog. So. How exactly do you go about that? I have the ultimate how to start a blog blueprint for you.

Why is this one the ultimate blueprint over all the others? Because I have learnt valuable lessons over the years that many bloggers have not. I’ve been blogging long enough to know what can happen and how to protect yourself from blogging vulnerabilities.

I’ve also worked with many different hosts and themes and plugins and tools that you’ll need. I have some favourites that I think will set you up with a solid blog foundation. Once your foundation is solid, you’re free to build your amazing blog.

Now, it has been a while since I started a brand new blog. So am I really qualified to advise you on how to start one? I mean, I started my blog so many years ago, right?

It is for that reason that I created this brand new blog. Instead of incorporating blogging posts on my current blog, I want to build this blog up and grow along with you.

I documented all the steps I have taken so far in creating this blog. Let’s get into it.

The best thing I ever did for my blogging business was hiring a coach. Ready to take your blog to the next level? Here are my blog coaching packages. You can choose one or email me to customise one that is right for you. Let’s make some money with your blog!

How to Start a Blog

Before we go into step 1, it’s important that you have your reasons for blogging laid out on paper. As with any new project, you’ll need to have your objectives clearly laid out to act as your guide. What are your reasons for starting a blog? What do you hope to accomplish? Who is your target audience? The answers to these questions will tailor the steps that you make to ensure you’re receiving the results you’re looking for.

Remember that for the purposes of this blog, our objectives are always to solve a problem and to make money in doing so. Solving a problem for our audience helps us to connect, build community and establish authority. With an engaged community, well also be able to monetise our blog through the solutions that we’re providing. Win-win.

However, if you’re not trying to monetise your blog and you just want a place to share your life, you won’t need all these steps. I would still go with the blog for business route, you never know where your life’s stories may take you.

Now that you’re clear on your why and your who, let’s get into the how.

Research and choose your domain name

The name that you’ve chosen will be the footing that your blog stands on. This will be how you brand your business and how you connect with your audience. You’ll want to use something short and catchy that can stand out on search engines and on social media.

You can use NameCheckr to quickly check if your desired name is available as a domain and as a social media handle on all popular platforms. What’s a domain? It’s the .com or .org etc that you will be using for your blog address online. My domain is www.blogwithmo.com

Purchase Domain Name and Hosting Package

Once you’ve selected your name, you’re ready to purchase your web hosting package. Don’t use a free website host as tempting as it may be. Free means you’re the customer and the content that you create is owned by whatever free platform you’ve chosen.

That means they could erase your site at any given moment and you would have no reprieve. You want to own your content. I break down how dangerous it could be to not self-host your blog in this post.

I’ve read a million blog posts on web hosting and I continue to recommend the one I use, Siteground. It’s not the absolute cheapest but it’s not far off and you know what they say about going with the cheapest possible option.

Siteground has always been able to help me at a moment’s notice through their live chat whenever I run into technical difficulty. Their customer service, lack of downtime (BIG WIN) and ease of use in these 7 years I have been with them is why I continue to sing their praise. Here’s a post with a detailed tutorial on getting started with Siteground, including pics and video.

When you’re purchasing your hosting package, you will receive your domain name free for the first year. They will also help you to move your domain name over to them if you already have one.

Bluehost is another popular website host that’s even more affordable. Depending on what your budget is you may choose to go with them for your hosting needs.

Install WordPress and a Theme

Once you’ve bought your hosting package and you’re all set up, you’ll want to install WordPress. WordPress is the platform you will use to write all your posts.

There are other platforms available for sure, Joomla, Drupal etc, but WordPress is by far the most popular amongst bloggers worldwide. And for good reason, ease of use being the main one. I have used Joomla before and I’m so happy I don’t anymore.

Once you’ve installed WordPress, you’ll need a theme. The theme is the design of your blog. You can either install a free theme, work with a designer to create something from scratch or purchase a premium theme.

You know how I feel about free. Free is great for some things, but when it comes to your business, you want to invest in something that will reflect the standard you’re trying to set.

Purchasing a premium theme gives you the plug and play ease you’re looking for while still giving you a gorgeous, custom website look and feel. Go with free and you may end up looking the same as a ton of other blogs out there. And the aim is to stand out.

My favourite premium theme, the one I use on all my blogs is the Divi from Elegant Themes. It’s a beautiful drag and drop page builder allowing you to create a custom theme by dropping any type of section anywhere you choose.

This is great for me for those moments when I really love a function of a theme but wished it were somewhere else on the page. Or wished it were a little bigger or had one more row or one more image column. You get the point. Divi is the absolute best.

Bluchic also has some beautiful and professional themes for you to browse and choose from. It may be a little easier if you just want something plug and play without tinkering with drag and drop page builders.

Same for Blossom Themes, I love their feminine but yet professional themes! Going this route may be easier on the pocket if you’re just buying one theme.

I have multiple sites plus love the flexibility of being able to refresh my blog with a different look by moving around elements instead of installing a whole new theme.

Install Plugins – These are all the ones I use

Once you’ve installed WordPress, you’ll need a host of plugins to extend its functionality beyond basic word processing. The list of plugins varies far and wide, however, the ones I recommend you install right away are below.

Yoast SEO – SEO is extremely important for the content that you’ll be creating and will be spoken about extensively on this blog. SEO stands for search engine optimization and it’s what will be one of the driving factors of traffic to your site. Optimizing your posts with keywords that people are looking for using search engines, will help these search engines to point them to your solutions. Yoast is an excellent plugin to help guide that process so you’re not missing any possible opportunities.

Shareaholic – This plugin allows readers to share your posts to their favourite social media channels. You can customize it to include floating sharing buttons or buttons above and below your blog posts. You can also use it to monetize your posts with ads, though I do not use it for this purpose. Be sure to go through all its settings and turn that off. (Again, if you’re using Divi you won’t need a separate plugin for this as Elegant Themes has a sharing plugin called Bloom)

Sucuri Security – This plugin is not an option. WordPress sites can be very vulnerable to spam and malware attacks and should be protected from all angles. This is one of the best I’ve found and I used it to help me clean up my site after I found out it was hacked.

Loginizer Security – This is also a security plugin that helps to prevent login attempts to your blog admin area. It sends you an alert whenever anyone, yourself included, tries to log in to your WordPress admin area. I have both installed.

Insert Headers and Footers – I use this plugin to place codes in the header and footer section of my blog. Various other sites that need access to your blog, like Google Analytics and Pinterest, will give you codes to place in your blog’s header to verify site ownership. This is a great way to place those codes without going into your theme’s code and mistakingly messing up anything there. If you’re using a premium theme like Divi, then this isn’t necessary as Divi has its own built-in area to place your header codes.

WP Cache or another caching plugin – caching keeps your website super fast. No one likes a slow-moving website and your page speed is a Google ranking factor so be sure to install one for a better user experience.

There are other plugins that you may choose to use for various other functionalities. These that I have selected will give you the start you need.

Set Up Social Media Channels and Email List Builder

By now you’re well on your way to launching your brand new blog. You’ll want to secure the social media handles to go along with your blog as well as your email list builder. When you purchased your hosting, you would have gotten email accounts included in the package. Create one to use along with your blog.

You may already have free Gmail emails, but remember what I said about free. You won’t be able to use free email accounts to send out emails to your mailing list. Plus, your new email may also be used to create new social media accounts. Chances are your old email is currently being used on your personal handles.

Decide which social media channels are best for you based on where your audience is. If you’re blogging for profit then you cannot overlook Pinterest. Be sure to set up a Pinterest business account and a Facebook Page for your blog. Other channels optional based on what your topics are and what you choose to blog about.

Even if you focus on only one or two main social media channels for growth and engagement, go ahead and create accounts on all the majors. This prevents someone else from taking these names and who knows, you may find them useful in the future.

You absolutely must set up your email list builder. Far too many blogs are not utilizing email marketing and this will be where your bread and butter will come from! Set one up right out the box and begin to collect emails from your visitors.

You can try Mailerlite since it’s free for your first 1000 subscribers, relatively easy to use and has advanced features like email sequences and automation. I also have used and loved Convertkit as my email service provider, though this option is a little more pricey and also a little more sophisticated and feature-packed.

Write!

Ok, enough setup. Start writing already! There are definitely still other things to be done but you can figure it out along the way. If you wait until your blog is perfect, you may never ever start.

For instance, I launched this blog without my logo design. I did a simple one in Canva to begin with while my graphic designer perfected the one I currently use. If you’ve made it this far, you’re ready to launch your new blog and unleash your talents and wit onto the world.

What is important is to continuously read. Read other blogs in your niche to see what’s current and read blogs about blogging. You will always pick up tips, tricks and blog post ideas by reading work your fellow bloggers put out. So keep an eye out there and take in all the content you can.

There you have it. Start chipping away at this list to create a great blog from the ground up. If you’ve already started a blog, then let me know if you managed to find some tips you’ve not yet covered. I hope you found this post useful and feel confident enough to go start a blog.
