One important part of making money with a blog is your niche. Choosing a profitable niche will help to turn your blog from a hobby, journal or creative outlet to a full-time business. In this post, I’ll show you how to find your blogging niche so you can launch a profitable blog.

What is a niche?

A niche is a segment within a market that’s unique and share a common characteristic. To put it simply, your blog niche is the topic of your blog. It’s important for your blog to have a niche if you want to make money and we’ll explore why later in this post.

What’s important for now is that you make the distinction between a broad category and a niche. Parenting, for instance, is a broad category. You want to niche down to the type of parenting that you will talk about on your blog.

Similarly, dieting isn’t a niche. That’s too wide. For me, even keto dieting isn’t narrow enough. I like to niche down even further. A niche within the keto diet category might look like “vegan keto” or “cheap keto meals” or “keto breakfast ideas”. You get the point.

How to Find Your Blogging Niche

Do you need a niche for your blog?

Yes, you need a niche for your blog. The more you niche down, the easier it is to find and solve the problems of one subset of the market. If you were to try to cater to everyone on the keto diet, you’d need a team of writers and a heck of a lot of time to cover this diet from every aspect.

But when you go deeper into the niche, you can focus on just one area of the market. This makes it easier for you to become an authority on a topic and establish yourself as the “go-to” person in the niche.

When you do this, it becomes easier to build a community of followers that trust your authority and therefore your recommendations. You come across as if you know your sh*t and people are more inclined to buy whatever you’re selling. That’s the point of profitable blogging, to get people to trust you enough to actually anything you recommend.

Which niche is best for blogging?

That’s a hard one to answer. I believe you can make money in any niche once you know what you’re doing. People are into all sorts of things. As long as you can build out enough content surrounding your topic and find or create relevant products within the niche to recommend and sell, then that niche is profitable.

Make sure you can write about this niche for a good couple of months and not get tired and worn out because it will take that long to make any real money even when you niche down well.
