I agree with you! What I don’t really like is when people share their income reports only after they’ve reached a certain threshold. I’d absolutely love to see more of what their income looked like in their early days of blogging and how they managed to grow to where they are today!

PREACH girl preach. I seriously can’t stand blogging income reports. I find them either ingenuine, braggy, or a tactic to get you to buy an expensive course (& contribute to said income)! I don’t mean it to sound rude, but as bloggers we all totally understand where the financials come from, how to earn, etc. What I think would be much more valuable is explaining HOW – the tactics on working with brands, how to land a killer partnership, best practices for #ad on instagram, the options are endless & creates a relationship with other bloggers! x Shannon || http://www.champagneatshannons.com

It drives me crazy when I read income reports on blogs without any advice or method behind it. If there’s no “here’s how you can do the same” it can look a bit like the writer is just showing off.

As a new blogger, income reports are so disheartening to me! I’m putting in 40+ hours a week and seeing nothing and I read these reports like “I work 15 hours a week and make 6 figures a month” ect. While I know everyone has to put in time and energy to make a profit (and I have yet to put effort into monetizing), it would be nice to see the full picture of what goes into making that money like you said- are they paying VAs/Graphic Designers/SEO experts/ect? I feel like it is very misleading for SAHM or similar groups that read this and then give up on their blog after less than a year because they aren’t rich yet so they figure they must be doing something wrong. Just my two cents 🙂

I have been blogging for many years, but I have never created one of these reports. I don’t really see any use for them personally and some of the reports I have read reveal a little too much information in some instances; misleading information in others.

I love your unbiased approach to addressing income reports. I do enjoy scrolling through a few every now and again to get ideas of how I too can make money from blogging but I always read with caution!

Great points, Mo! I do share income reports, but I list out exactly how someone else can join the affiliate networks I do, etc. I also don’t include my services work (that’s written about in a business report). 🙂
